IBM Launches ‘Account 360’ Solution to Streamline Client Collaboration
IBM has developed a new “Account 360” solution to enhance collaboration for client-facing teams.
Built using the IBM watsonx AI and data platform in collaboration with Slack, this tool allows IBM teams to quickly access key account information, from strategic initiatives and support cases to sales opportunities, all in one place.
In 2023, IBM’s CIO organisation identified a key challenge: employees struggled to access relevant data efficiently when managing large client accounts.
Sales and support teams often lacked visibility into each other’s activities, which led to delays in responding to customer inquiries.
To address this, IBM created the Account 360 solution, which integrates data from multiple tools and presents it in an easy-to-use Slack app.
It provides real-time snapshots of client activities, reducing the time spent searching for information and improving productivity. The tool is available on desktop and mobile devices, allowing team members to access vital information.
The solution also offers a “co-pilot” feature, which helps team members quickly learn about the latest account updates.
It streamlines communication between roles, like account managers, sales specialists, and support agents, ensuring a smoother, more coordinated approach to client management.
Powered by IBM’s watsonx products, the tool can summarise key documents. It responds to natural language queries and provides insights into client profiles, strategies, and ongoing initiatives.
IBM is gradually rolling out this solution, starting with 70 key accounts, and plans to expand to more by mid-2024.
By simplifying access to critical information and enhancing collaboration, IBM’s Account 360 solution is set to transform how its teams interact with clients, bringing greater efficiency and responsiveness.

IBM Expands Cloud Cost Management with Kubecost Acquisition
IBM has announced its acquisition of Kubecost, a prominent software company known for its Kubernetes cost monitoring and optimisation tools.
This move strengthens IBM’s hybrid cloud cost management capabilities, particularly as Kubernetes usage grows. Currently, 84% of organisations are either using or exploring this technology.
As businesses increasingly rely on containers to handle modern workloads, managing cloud costs and optimising shared resources has become essential.
Kubecost provides real-time cost visibility and insights, helping organisations reduce spending and avoid resource over-provisioning within Kubernetes environments.
This acquisition supports IBM’s commitment to FinOps, a framework aimed at optimising the business value of cloud investments.
Adding Kubecost complements IBM’s existing FinOps Suite, which already includes tools like Cloudability for cloud cost management and Turbonomic for AI-driven cloud performance optimisation.
Following IBM’s recent acquisition of Apptio, the integration of Kubecost strengthens its position in cloud cost management.
This move allows FinOps teams to gain better insights into cloud usage, optimise costs, and enhance performance.
With this acquisition, IBM continues to build on its strategy of combining innovation with key acquisitions, further helping organisations simplify their IT environments and control costs more effectively.

Adobe to Launch AI-Powered Video Generation by Year-End
Adobe is set to revolutionise video editing by introducing its Firefly Video Model, enabling AI-driven video generation. This new model will power features in tools like Premiere Pro, allowing editors to:
- Generate B-roll footage
- Extend existing clips
- Create animations and atmospheric elements using text prompts or reference images.
Key Features:
- Text-to-Video, Image-to-Video, and Video-to-Video: The model supports these capabilities in limited contexts, enhancing flexibility for content creators.
- Commercially Safe: Adobe has designed Firefly to be trained only on licensed content, ensuring that generated material can be used in commercial settings without risking copyright infringement.
Firefly Video will enter beta later this year, with a waitlist now available for users interested in early access.

- Customisable AI Models: Through IBM’s watsonx.ai platform, users will have access to a wide variety of third-party models and IBM’s Granite foundation models, all built for enterprise needs.
- Zero-Copy Data Access: Salesforce Data Cloud offers seamless integration with mainframe and Db2 data, allowing users to customise their Agentforce agents with their data.
In addition, a new Slack Integration will enable users to interact with AI agents directly within Slack. It also automates routine tasks and streamlining collaboration without leaving the platform.
OpenAI Unveils “Strawberry” Models to Solve Complex STEM Problems
OpenAI has launched o1, a new large language model (LLM) family designed to tackle difficult reasoning tasks that GPT-4o cannot.
The o1 models are optimised for complex STEM problem-solving using a chain-of-thought approach. This approach breaks down intricate problems into simpler steps while learning to recognise and correct errors.
Key Highlights:
- Top-tier Performance: The model ranks in the 89th percentile on Codeforces, places among the top 500 U.S. students in the USA Math Olympiad qualifier, and exceeds Ph.D.-level accuracy in benchmarks for physics, biology, and chemistry problems.
- Availability: OpenAI has released an early version, o1-preview, for use in ChatGPT and trusted API users. A smaller, more affordable version, o1-mini, is also available via API.
The o1 models aim to redefine how AI tackles complex academic and real-world challenges.
