IBM Secures Top Rankings in 2024 Gartner API Management Report with Leading Capabilities Across 4 Key Use Cases
IBM has again been named a Leader in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for API Management, marking its ninth appearance in this distinguished category.
Evaluated alongside 16 other API management vendors, IBM ranked #1 in four critical Use Cases: Mobile/Web Backend APIs, Integration Using APIs, Internal API Management, and AI Enablement.
These achievements, highlighted in the Gartner Critical Capabilities report, underscore IBM’s commitment to delivering agile and scalable solutions for modern digital ecosystems.
In addition to this recognition, IBM recently strengthened its API offerings by acquiring webMethods from Software AG.
While evaluated separately in the Gartner report due to timing, webMethods has been recognised as a Leader in API Management for six consecutive years.
Going forward, IBM will leverage webMethods’ strengths, API Connect, and Watsonx technology to enhance enterprise integration solutions.

IBM Watsonx Governance Boosts AI Adoption at Scale with New Evaluation Studio
As the business world embraces AI to cut costs, reduce turnaround times, and enhance operational efficiency, IBM is expanding its watsonx.governance™ platform with two pivotal new capabilities:
Evaluation Studio and Guardrails. These features are designed to accelerate AI adoption by enabling streamlined model assessment and embedding responsible AI practices that address emerging risks.
IBM’s new Evaluation Studio offers a governance toolkit for organisations looking to automate the evaluation of AI assets at scale.
The tool allows model developers and validators to save time and resources by automating what was previously a manual review process. This supports faster experimentation and reduces delays in AI model production.
Evaluation Studio also includes actionable dashboards that assess AI models against defined quantitative criteria, helping businesses select the most suitable assets for each AI application.
This capability empowers enterprises to evaluate multiple models efficiently, ensuring that the most effective solution backs each AI use case.

ChatGPT Enhances Web Search for Timely, Relevant Answers
ChatGPT now offers an improved web search feature, which provides faster, more accurate answers with direct links to relevant sources.
This new capability combines the ease of natural language interaction with access to real-time information, including sports scores, news, and stock updates—content that previously required visiting a search engine.217.`
Users can prompt ChatGPT to search the web automatically based on their question or manually activate the feature by clicking the web search icon.
This functionality is available on ChatGPT’s website, desktop, and mobile apps. All ChatGPT Plus and Team users, as well as SearchGPT waitlist members, now have access. The rollout to Enterprise and Edu users is expected in the coming weeks, and to Free users in the coming months.
Finding reliable information online often requires extensive searches and filtering through numerous links.
Now, ChatGPT streamlines this process by enabling users to ask questions naturally, receive relevant web-based responses, and follow up with further questions for deeper insights.
This enhanced search experience helps users get the answers they need more efficiently and effectively.

AI leads Python to the Top Language as the Number of Global Developers Surges
The rise of AI is reshaping the developer landscape. GitHub’s latest Octoverse report highlights Python’s ascension as the most popular language on the platform in 2024, surpassing JavaScript.
This shift underscores a growing focus on AI, data science, and machine learning as developers increasingly incorporate AI models into applications and explore new AI-powered projects.
The global developer community is expanding rapidly, with significant growth observed in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. India, in particular, is on track to lead GitHub’s developer population by 2028.
GitHub has also seen record numbers of first-time contributors, especially in generative AI projects, with contributions increasing by 59% and new AI-focused projects up by 98% in 2024.
Many new developers are engaging with open-source projects for the first time, thanks partly to GitHub’s Education and Copilot programs. It has introduced over 7 million verified students and educators to the platform.
Python’s rise aligns with a 92% increase in Jupyter Notebook usage, signalling widespread adoption among those in AI, data science, and scientific computing.
While AI drives growth, other programming languages like Rust are also gaining popularity alongside Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Java. Developers are embracing a broader range of applications beyond traditional software. (Github)

Key directives include creating annual inventories of high-impact AI systems and implementing risk management practices.
The policy emphasizes privacy, civil liberties, and safety, mandating that relevant officials be integrated into AI governance structures.
Agencies are also instructed to develop robust training programs and accountability measures to ensure responsible AI usage.
The memorandum directs agencies to follow specific cybersecurity protocols for AI systems to strengthen security.
Additionally, the policy highlights the need to attract and retain AI talent within government roles and promote international cooperation on AI governance, underscoring the global significance of responsible AI development in national security.

OpenAI Acquires Chat.com, Expanding Its Domain Portfolio
OpenAI acquired Chat.com, further expanding its collection of high-profile digital assets. As of this morning, Chat.com now redirects users to OpenAI’s AI-powered chatbot, ChatGPT.
Chat.com, originally registered in 1996, was previously owned by Dharmesh Shah, co-founder and CTO of HubSpot. Shah purchased the domain for $15.5 million last year, making it one of the top two publicly reported domain sales.
In March 2024, Shah revealed he had sold Chat.com to an unnamed buyer, later confirming through a post on X that OpenAI was the purchaser, likely paid in OpenAI shares.
While the domain now points to ChatGPT, OpenAI has not disclosed the purchase price. There is no indication that the acquisition will result in a rebranding of the company or its flagship product.
